Every blog has a beginning and this is mine. Jim Stafford’s my name and I own Eclipse Recording Company. I hold the not so official title of Chief Conspirator. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with many artists – big and small, ones with 40 years professional experience and others just starting out. Some very cool and some not cool at all. Here on this page I’m going to share my experiences from the past and what’s happening here currently. With any luck and some diligence, I’ll be posting my tales of the tunes along with photos once each week with our ongoing saga.
Eclipse is a state of the art studio and CD/DVD design and duplication service (OK enough hype) located in the nations oldest city, St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine’s music tradition goes all the way back to 1565. Pedro Menendez, founder of the city, captured the attacking French Huguenots at an inlet later named Matanzas, which translates to slaughter in Spanish. That’s exactly what he did, killing them all except for six. As rumor has it the six spared were musicians. There-in lies the beginning of St. Augustine’s music tradition. It continues to this day with many well known folks living in or near here. Folks like Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eddie Money, Bo Diddley, Molly Hatchet, The Allman Brothers, Don Henley, Gamble Rogers and this list goes on, have all or in part lived in or near our beautiful coast.
My future postings will be in two parts, Retro and Nouveau, Old and New.
I hope you enjoy my Tales of the Tunes and please share with me any questions or feedback.
Thanks
Jim
